Zusammenfassung: Torque is an important measurand for the efficiency determination of wind turbine drive trains on nacelle test benches. The recent developments in the wind industry have led to torque measurements larger than 1 MN m. To ensure reliability of wind turbines and accelerate the development process and therefore the market launch of wind turbines, a traceable torque measurement is required.
To trace torque measurement to national standards, a calibration procedure for torque measurement under rotation in nacelle test benches was developed. For the method developed, a torque transfer standard is deployed to realise traceable torque measurement in the MN m range.
This good practice guide comprises the calibration procedure developed including general requirements on the performance of a torque calibration in nacelle test benches and the calibration set-up. Moreover, any preparatory work and tests as well as the execution of the calibration measurements itself are described. To obtain a calibration result including a measurement uncertainty for the torque measurement in a nacelle test bench, guidelines for the evaluation of the calibration measurements are given.
This guide has been produced within the EURAMET project entitled “Torque measurement in the MN m range”. More information about this collaborative research project can be found on the project’s website https://www.ptb.de/emrp/ind14-home.html.
