Abstract: An in vitro model for ischemic stroke was developed to measure the cell viability and mortality of rat neurons at different time durations after a three hour period of stroke. The measurements were done with three different assays based on cell cytotoxicity, viability and proliferation. The second part was focused on measuring the extent of protection of the neurons through the two cytokines SDF-1α and BDNF.
