Files labeled "Flops_*.txt" contain data for the optical pumping of a single Yb+ ion using light near 370nm to the desired S, -1/2 Zeeman ground state. Within the measurements the pulse time of the 411nm beam was scanned. Resonant Rabi flop is on the [S, 1/2 ] -> [D, 5/2], [m, J] = -1/2 -> -5/2 transition.

The columns of the files show the UTC time in seconds, the time passed since the start of the experiment in seconds, the pulse time of the 411nm laser acting on the ion, the probability of detecting a non-excited ion in a given region of interest of the camera image within the number of valid experiments, the number of valid experiments, a control voltage to monitor the laser power of the 411nm laser beam.

The data in this folder was used to determine the optical pumping efficiency of the experiment. In each file a different initial Zeeman ground state is populated. For successful optical pumping, a Rabi-flop can be observed. In case of optical pumping to the wrong Zeeman ground state, a highly suppressed Rabi-flop can be observed, from whiche one can deduce the optical pumping efficiency.

Initial populated Zeeman ground state:
411_flop_01: S, +1/2
411_flop_32: S, -1/2
